The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was founded in New York City in 1868 by a group of theatrical people who called themselves the Jolly Corks. The idea behind this clubs formation was to provide fellowship for its members. From this small group the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was born.
This history of the Lima Elks Lodge can be divided into three parts; The Rise, The Fall, and The Second Coming. Lima Lodge was chartered in 1886 and was at that time the 8th Lodge in the state of Ohio and the 54th Lodge in the country. Lima Elks Lodge No. 54 was forced to surrender its charter in 1891 due to allowing rather "unsavory" candidates to become members and problems in management. Five months later the Lodge was reorganized and given a new charter number of 162. In 1908 a now well organized, wisely managed, growing and prosperous Lima Lodge No. 162 applied to Grand Lodge requesting permission to use their original charter number of 54. Their request was granted and Lima Lodge has been known as " Good Ole Lima Lodge No. 54" ever since.
In 1911 the building at the corner of North and Elizabeth Streets was built. That building is still standing at that location just east of our present building today. In 1933 a deep recession resulted in Lima Lodge No. 54 losing their building. As a result the now homeless Elks Lodge purchased the Robert's house which stood on this site and used that house as their Lodge home until 1947. As membership increased and the Lodge prospered these facilities became inadequate and it was decided to build a new building on this site. This building is constructed of Indiana gray limestone and was dedicated in May of 1947. Since that time this building has been expanded with new kitchen facilities and property to the west has been purchased and is used for parking.

Here at Elks Lodge, we have over four rooms to host your special event. We have our Grand Ballroom which holds up to 200 people, Our Captains Room, our Dining Room, and our Pub Room.

Membership Information
To be eligible for membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, you must be a citizen of the United States over the age of 21 who believes in God. You must also be recommended by a current member. If you meet these criteria, you can simply download and print the Application (link to the right), and send it to:

Welcome to the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge # 54. We are a proud Fraternal Organization with a very rich history. Over the years, we have built a fine establishment here in our building. We have six different rooms that can be booked to cater your special event and each room has its own style to suit the type of event you are hosting.
In addition to our wonderful facilities, we also have a full kitchen on-site that can cater your event to fit your needs. We have a wide variety of food plans for you to choose from. We also have the ability to provide musical entertainment if you desire.

The Ballroom is the feature room at Lodge 54. It contains a full service bar, beautiful chandelieres, incredible architecture, and plenty of seating. It also features a chairlift for the handicapped This room could be used for :
